Editorial policy

Every factual claim here falls into one of four categories, and we try to make it obvious which one you are reading.

1. General craft knowledge. How directional freezing works, why surface area drives dilution, why a narrow bore reads more accurately. Stated plainly, and explained rather than asserted, so you can check the reasoning yourself.
2. Published manufacturer specifications. Dimensions, capacities, materials, contents. Quoted as published and labeled as such. These change, and we recheck them when we revise a page.
3. Owner reports read at volume. Not star counts - the recurring, specific things owners say after months of use. Where a judgment rests on this, the page says so.
4. Our own editorial judgment. Which product suits which reader, and why. This is opinion, clearly ours, and argued rather than declared.

What is never on this site: invented test results, first-hand-use claims we have not earned, prices we cannot verify, fabricated ratings, and testimonials. How we pick sets out the method in full.

We will get things wrong. Specifications change, products are discontinued, and judgments turn out to be mistaken. The policy is simple and we would rather state it than be quietly flexible about it.

• Factual errors are fixed as soon as we can confirm them, usually within a few days.
• Corrections are noted on the page rather than silently edited, where the change is material - a wrong specification, a wrong recommendation, a product that is no longer sold.
• Typos and wording are fixed without a note. Nobody needs a changelog for a comma.
• The `Last updated` date on a page reflects real content changes only. We do not bump it to look fresh.

The most common failure in this genre is a roundup recommending a product you can no longer buy. It happens because a page is written once and never revisited, and it is entirely preventable.

Roundups and comparisons are rechecked on a regular cycle for availability, which is the single most valuable maintenance task on a site like this one.

• No sponsored placements. No brand has paid to appear here, and none can.
• No paid inclusion. A product is on a list because it belongs there, or it is not on the list.
• No gifted products. We do not accept samples in exchange for coverage. If that ever changes, this page changes first and any affected page will disclose it.
• No guest posts or link exchanges. Every page here is written by the byline on it.
• No commission-driven ordering. Rate has never set a ranking. Affiliate disclosure has the full commercial picture.

The site earns through affiliate commission and nothing else, which is a real incentive and one we would rather name than pretend away.

This is worth being direct about, because a lot of sites in this category are now wholly machine-generated and none of them says so.

AI tools are used here the way a spellchecker or a search engine is used: for drafting assistance, for structure, and for finding things worth reading. What they are not used for is deciding what is true or which product wins. Every factual claim is checked against a source, every specification is taken from a published one, and every recommendation is an editorial judgment made by the byline on the page.

The practical guarantee is the one that runs through the whole site: nothing here claims first-hand experience we do not have, and every commercial page states what its judgments actually rest on. That standard is the same regardless of what tools were involved in drafting the prose.

There are no customer testimonials anywhere on this site and there are no star ratings on any product. Both would have to be invented, and inventing either is the fastest available way to lose a reader permanently - and, in the case of reviews, to break the law.

The on-page judgments here are ours and are written as opinion. Where we refer to what owners report, it is described as exactly that, and it is never converted into a number that implies a measurement we did not take.
